On Thursday 26th February, Teikyo University of Japan in Durham was delighted to welcome the Consul General of Japan in Edinburgh, Mr Katsutoshi Takeda to our campus.

Prior to visiting the university, the Consul General spent some time in Durham city centre, where he had the opportunity to visit the Mayor of Durham and Chair of Durham county council, and admire the historic Durham Cathedral, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks.

Following his arrival on campus, the Consul General was given a tour of LHCC, our teaching centre, where he learned more about the facilities used by students during their studies in Durham. After the tour, he joined members of Teikyo staff for a sushi lunch.

During the visit, a range of topics relating to the university’s programmes and activities were discussed, including the role of the Durham campus in supporting academic exchange and promoting cultural understanding between Japan and the UK. The meeting also provided a valuable opportunity to reflect on the university’s ongoing initiatives and to explore ways in which cooperation and engagement may continue to develop in the future.
