Whilst in Durham one of the highlights for our students is a chance to take part in a variety of sports, as well as making friends through these activities. The spring term particularly is a great time to be here with the lighter evenings and better weather providing more chances to play outdoors. So far this term, we have played football, basketball, tennis and been running together! The level of tennis from our students in particular is likely to improve through term with weekly coaching sessions provided by Team Durham coaches set-up. Students have also had a chance to get involved with college sports, with students joining in with baseball and tennis clubs.

In addition to outdoor sports the students have tried out boxercise and have recently been to Infinite Air Trampoline Park and Durham Climbing Centre where they have loved trying out these new sports for the first time. All three of these require strength, determination and courage all of which our students have displayed when taking part.

In the coming weeks, we are looking forward to some more exciting events. This week we have arranged two five-aside matches, one against a Collingwood team and another against one of the host families and their friends. We also have plans to take some students to horse-riding and sailing lessons. Let’s hope the weather remains good over the coming weeks!
