13 new students were met at Newcastle airport by the EFL Coordinator and teachers on Thursday 7th September. They were lucky enough to share the flight from London to Newcastle with Sir Mo Farah which caused great excitement!

After a short coach journey to Durham they checked into their rooms in St Mary’s College, Etsuko Hall and Shoichi Hall then enjoyed a quick supper before a good night’s sleep.

After breakfast in Collingwood College, the students arrived at the Lafcadio Hearn Cultural Centre (LHCC) ready to begin the induction programme. As well as essential administration the students have enjoyed a wide variety of activities including nail art, cake decorating and movie nights.

They have also enjoyed a tour quiz around Durham City alongside trips to the Metro Centre and Newcastle.

Many sports have been played too including tennis on the Teikyo tennis court; basketball and volleyball at Maiden castle (the University sport facility) and boxercise and gym inductions in the Teikyo gym in Etsuko Hall.

The students have met all of the teachers and staff here in Durham and are ready to begin their English learning adventure!
