Blog: Alan O’ Cain Art Workshop

All of our students took part in an art workshop recently facilitated by local artist Alan O’Cain and his wife Juliet here at LHCC. During the session, everyone was encouraged to think creatively. Inspiration was drawn from examples shown from some great artists including Picasso and Matisse. After some warm up tasks, the group was asked to draw around their hand and within the hand shape, paint something that represented an element of themselves. With only 30 minutes to paint, quick thinking was encouraged. Whilst some painted boldly, others created more complex and intricate designs. The end result was a great range and ‘hand art’ which was personal and reflective.
