As the Teikyo University term draws to a close over the next couple of weeks, we can look back on what has been a great term of sports and activities. It has been fantastic to see many students representing their colleges at a variety of sports including volleyball, football and badminton, with one student representing the university as part of the Durham University football club.

As well as this, there has been a great amount of participation in different sports by all students, including tennis coaching, basketball, badminton and horse-riding. One of the more popular events though has been trampolining. In Durham, we are fortunate to be very close to the North East’s first indoor Trampoline and Freerun Park opened in Durham on 25th July 2015.

It has proven a really fun place for students to spend time keeping fit. They have over 80 trampolines with wall running, basketball, dodgeball and an enormous airbag, as well as Foam Pits, Slackline and a Battle Beam. It proved so popular the first time that we went back again! One of our students with previous gymnastics and trampolining experience has enjoyed practicing forward and backward summersaults in a controlled and safe environment whilst those new to trampolining have grown in confidence during their times there. I am sure we will be back again in the future.
